I didn't know about that PubSub approach, I do find it useful and think on a couple of occasions that using PubSub would've made the code more elegant. As most of my web development is done using jQuery and I'm already familiar with jQuery event handling, using custom events seems like the right way to go. I'll definitely try to put that into use.
